Podcast 5: The Devil In The Dark
Posted on: 03.24.14
What better way to celebrate father-daughter relationships in Defiance than having to fend off a Hellbug hive? As we learn this week Hellbugs are descended partially from butterflies after all and all little daughters love butterflies. Even ones that turn into bone marrow eating ground diggers that chase down and kill runners with scented vintage red running shoes.
In this week’s Voices Of Defiance Shannon, Sean and Stargate Pioneer take a look at the first season Defiance episode The Devil In The Dark. The trio immediately notices how much better the episode is the second time around after having watched the complete Season 1 when it was aired last year because the entire season must have been premeditated by the writers and producers from the beginning as noted in the episode by Irisa’s visions and natural abilities.
Backstory is always good, too. We get some of that in The Devil In The Dark when Sukar explains to Amanda what his position on Defiance is. But Sukar’s ways are shocked to their core when he discovers Irisa. And the Voices Of Defiance hosts get to rediscover Sukar’s rather fit physique.
Our hosts also wonder just what was Christie’s issue with bathing in the Tarr house- especially since with almost certainty Stahma would be present. In addition to Christie’s bathing choices the hosts pontificate about Christie’s ability to match Stahma’s cunningness.
And speaking of cunningness, Defiance shows us just why Stahma chose Datak as her husband over her arranged marriage. Datak has power partially due to his physical prowess - and the Hellbugs note his wrath.
The hosts also mention the webisodes, but no specific air date yet for the webisodes or the season 2 premier episode.
And let’s all not forget Sean likes to wear dresses.
See you next week as the hosts discuss the next Defiance episode, A Well Respected Man.
